Meet the EMI Team: Debra

We’re so excited to introduce you to our newest team member, Debra! Joining EMI last month as our design assistant who will be integral in all things that keep this machine running!

1. What made you want to study interior design?

   • Drawing, painting, writing and all things creative solutions has been my emotional outlet for as long as I can remember, and these hobbies helped me get through every season of my life. I realized that Interior Design encompasses all of these elements and that I had the unique opportunity to impact others lives in a positive way using my understanding of how each of these elements work in tandem.

2. Favorite design element in a home

   • Structural detailing; I love when homes have exposed wood beams or rounded doorways or coffered ceilings or dramatic crown molding because it makes a home feel intentionally designed.

3. Least favorite design element in a home

   • I don’t think I have one. As cliche as it may sound, every design choice has a reason and season either to the designer or the client. Designs signify growth, maturity, new chapters in life, so what might’ve not worked in one season could work in another; or vice versa.

4. Favorite movie and/or TV show

   • This Christmas + Crybaby

5. Favorite holiday

   • Mothers+Father Day

6. Morning person or night owl

   • Morning person

7. Dream vacation

   • I don’t think I have one, but anywhere I could take my siblings with me.

   • Films

   • Controversial choice but chocolate covered almonds

10. If you could live inside any movie/tv house, which one would it be?

    • Two totally different aesthetics but The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air or That’s So Raven
