O(m)gee! We spent the day sourcing and when we spun around to punch a few (+ a few more) numbers, we noticed this gorgeous marble lazy susan on the desk of our vendor. What made it stand out? That each side was detailed into one of their countertop finish edge styles and my on my it really levels up the game. While my heart will always love a good mitered edge, in a FMK game of counter edge details the Ogee will lead the pack. The other day, I was passing a store that had gaucho pants on their display model and I about died. As a millennial, those were peak fashion for a solid amount of time. IYKYK 😂 What it proved was, trends can come back, but they’re not here to stay. When it comes to your home, you want to have an ownership of its lasting moments, not a yearbook page to a time in which you “that was popular then.” Trends work best in accents. More easily transient pieces. When we present pieces to clients, we often want the to feel as though they’re investing in a home that’s going to be there for them for years to come as is. When I say that my design aesthetic leads with a coastal mindset, there is often a pause from clients with homes that aren’t settled by water. The fear that I’m coming in with ⚓️, ropes and materials that are meant for sandy toes. For me, coastal design is that feeling you get standing by the ocean. Airy, light, free, happiness. 🤍 When designing a home - in this case, a primary bathroom - I wanted to bring in textural tiles, natural materials and feather like touches of elegance to pull it all together. I’ve imagined and reimagined this space often and thoughtfully. First decisions are being made.
